To mark the occasion, here’s a celebratory article we first published last May…
The Catalan led us to a historic record by winning a fourth consecutive league title with a 3-1 win over West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.
It is the first time in the history of English football that a men’s team has won the championship four years in a row.
The trophy is his 17th major achievement at City, extending his record as the most successful manager in the Club’s history.
In terms of league titles, his total of six is the second most of any manager to have ever taken charge of an English club.
While the play style of Guardiola is appreciated the world over, it is his relentless will to win that keeps City at the top of football.
Having been out of the top spot in just two seasons, Guardiola broke countless records on the way to this remarkable level of dominance.
Last month he reached 300 Premier League appearances with a winning record that left all the division’s top managers in the dust.
He has now won 12 league titles in 15 seasons as a manager in a major European league, which is twice as many as the next highest manager since 2008.
Here, we take a look at the standard City have set in their eight seasons in charge. Guardiola in England…
GENERAL TABLE OF THE PREMIER LEAGUE
City have collected 716 points from 304 games in those eight seasons, 59 more than the next best team – Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp has guided his side to 657 points in the same period, while Arsenal, in third, are 149 points behind City on 567.
Spurs (552), Chelsea and Manchester United (both 549) are the only other teams to have collected more than 500 points in those eight years.
Our total average is 89.5 points per season.
The first title of Guardiola in 2017/18 came with a record number of points in the Premier League, accumulating a century, an incredible 19 points more than second-placed Manchester United.
We followed that success in 2018/19 by guiding Liverpool to the title with 98 points.
We were again well ahead of the competition in 2020/21, finishing 12 points ahead of Manchester United, before another tense battle with Liverpool ended with a second title decided by just one point.
Our 2022/23 season saw us collect 89 points – five more than Arsenal in second, before we broke through 90 again, with 91 this time.

record of 90+ points
City have now accumulated at least 90 points in four seasons under Guardiola.
That’s more than any other Premier League team has achieved in the league’s history, with Liverpool and Chelsea each achieving the feat three times. Manchester United have done it twice and Arsenal once.
Our greatest achievements occurred in 2017/18, 2018/19, 2021/22 and 2023/24.
Notably, before Guardiola arriving in England, the 90-point mark had only been reached on five occasions – one of which came in a 42-game season.
This shows the incredible standard our opponents must meet if they are to take the crown from us.
total wins
Our 225 wins in the 304 Premier League games we have played under Guardiola that’s 29 more than anyone else has achieved in the same period.
That’s a 74% win percentage, just under three wins out of every four games.
119 of our wins have come at the Etihad Stadium, seven more than second-best Liverpool have accumulated.
We are the only team to have also won more than 100 away games in that period, with 106 away wins.
Our 38 defeats are the lowest number among all teams that have spent more than two campaigns in the top flight over these eight years.

goal difference
City scored goals at a simply phenomenal rate under the leadership of Guardiola.
We hit 755 in the 304 Premier League games the Catalan has overseen – a touch under 2.5 per game.
That’s almost 100 more than Liverpool, on 659, while Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea are the only other teams to have scored more than 500.
On the other side, we have the weakest defense, with only 249 goals conceded.
Only Liverpool can also say they have conceded less than one goal per game on average, but they are far behind us, with their defence having conceded 291 goals.
All of this adds up to a simply astonishing goal difference of +506. That vastly eclipses the rest of the league, with Liverpool next on +368, ahead of Arsenal (+222) and Spurs (+212).
Everyone else has an overall goal difference since 2016 that is at least 300 worse than City’s.

ball possession
Keeping the ball is essential for everything that Guardiola asks your team.
That’s why it’s no surprise that we’ve had more possession than anyone else under his leadership.
Our average possession of 66.79% means we maintain control of the ball for more than two-thirds of the time on the pitch.
That possession resulted in 184,204 total passes completed, averaging 23,025 per season and 606 per game.
These numbers are put into emphatic context when we see that Liverpool are 27,284 behind on 156,720.
Chelsea are close behind on 155,034, but completing the top five are Arsenal (138,763) and Spurs (134,265), almost 50,000 passes behind.
Rodrigo (with 13,642) is the third-most completed passer among all Premier League players in that period, despite not arriving until the start of the fourth quarter of 2014. Guardiola.
Clean sheets
City have kept 133 clean sheets in their 304 league games under Pep, an average of one every 2.28 matches.
Five teams have kept more than 100 clean sheets, but no team can match City’s tally.
112 of our 133 are credited to Edersonwhich has been the first choice for seven years Guardiola between the crosses.
The Brazilian, one of the best goalkeepers the league has ever seen, currently sits 15th in terms of total clean sheets in a Premier League career.
During his time in Manchester, he won the Golden Glove three times – a number that no other goalkeeper can match.

However, Erling Haaland is now rapidly approaching that mark, with 63 in just two seasons.
The Norwegian has won the Golden Boot in both campaigns so far, including a record 36 in 2022/23.

Ederson is the most selected player of Guardiola250 matches.
When fit, the Brazilian is as close to a guarantee of appearing in City’s league squad as you can get.
Bernardo Silva, known for his incredible stamina, is next with 233 caps and Kevin De Bruyne is right behind with 232.
De Bruyne is the only player still at the club who was already here when Guardiola joined in 2016.
The Belgian is one of six players to have played in all six titles under the coach, along with EdersonPhil The foot, Bernardo Silva, John Stones e Kyle Walker.
Highest number of assists
Kevin De Bruyne has been by far the most creative player in the Premier League since the arrival of Guardiola England.
The Catalan extracted the best from the Belgian, with De Bruyne recording 102 assists in eight seasons.
That is 34 ahead of nearest challenger Mo Salah on 68 and 41 more than Heung-min Son on 61.
In general, De Bruyne now has 112 Premier League assists – the second most of any player in the division’s history.

Guardiola has now won 17 major honours as City manager – 12 more than the club’s next most successful manager, Joe Mercer.
Guardiola He is the first City manager to win the UEFA Champions League, the European Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
City’s 1-0 win over Chelsea in September 2021 was Pep’s 221st as a manager – more than any other manager in the club’s history.
Premier League records records under Pep’s command
City are the first men’s team in the history of the English top flight to win the title in four consecutive seasons.
City have reached 90 Premier League points four times – more than any other side. Chelsea and Liverpool have both reached the milestone three times.
Our 100 points in 2017/18 remains the highest ever Premier League tally – even when the season was 42 games rather than 38.
Guardiola have collected 704 points from their first 300 Premier League games, 70 more than second-best José Mourinho.
He became the fastest manager in Premier League history to reach 500 points when City drew 1-1 with Southampton in January 2022 (his 213th game).
We are the only English top-flight team to score 100 home goals in a single season across all competitions, having done so twice (2018/19 and 2022/23).
Our 14 consecutive wins at the end of the 2018/19 Premier League season is the longest winning streak at the end of a campaign.
City’s 4-0 win over Newcastle in December 2021 was their 34th that year – a new English football record for the most top-flight wins in a calendar year.
It was also our 18th away win of the year – more than any other top-flight team has managed in the history of English football.
