After months of preparation, the competition day of the North Brabant Badminton Youth Selection took place on Saturday 29 June in sports hall De Braken in Boxtel. All badminton schools of BNL were invited and eventually BS Utrecht and BS West-Brabant gave their opinion. The CHEMPS badminton selection from Amersfoort was also present as the 4th party.
Unique format
More than 50 players in all different age categories were present. From Dutch finalists, semi-finalists to the very youngest. That made the originally planned team tournament difficult and so it became a competition day.
The rounds at a high level were alternated with rounds where ‘everyone played with and against everyone’.
In the end we did have two winners because the scores, of the rounds at level, were noted and divided by the number of games. Jelle – CHEMPSbadmintonselection – and Viktoria – NBBJ – went home with two boxes of cream puffs. But we believe that the puffs didn’t even make it to the car.
Exactly the idea of the match day. Not only sharing your badminton skills, but also your fun and treats.
Parting
Meanwhile, at 15:00, old NBBJ players and parents had gathered to say goodbye to Leon Florentinus. Because of this special event, the NBBJ players were treated to fries, a snack and some lemonade.
Leon thanks for the many years of training fun. And parents, coaches and players thanks for the support on the NBBJ match day.
