Cherishing the Moments: A June Diary of Life’s Ordinary Beauty

At the end of every month, when I have to write my monthly diary, I always feel a little anxious about completing my homework. But when I open the photo album on my phone for that month, I am often glad that I have set myself this homework. It helps me remember every beautiful thing in my ordinary life, and therefore I cherish every little happiness in my ordinary days!

In June this year, I was touched when I saw the moments recorded in the photo album, whether it was a short vacation, a weekend, or just an evening, whether it was in a neighboring country or state, or at my doorstep! I am grateful that we did not let down the beauty of early summer, and I cherish the good times shared with my family even more.

Father’s Day, family gathering in Toronto!

The sons took the lead and the whole family spent a wonderful and relaxing weekend watching a baseball game!

Sunbathing by the lake and drinking cold beer

I didn’t get enough sun, so I took a boat to the island in the middle of the lake and continued sunbathing on the beach!

Strolling through Toronto’s skyscrapers

Listen to an outdoor concert and have a picnic in the shade

Play chess and table tennis in the city center.

Of course, you can’t miss the delicious food either.

In the baseball game, Boston Red Sox played against Toronto Blue Jays, and the Red Sox won 7:3! The second child even grabbed a ball from a Red Sox player he liked! That night, after watching the baseball game, we returned to the hotel to watch the NBA finals, and the Boston Celtics won the championship again, which was a perfect end to our trip to Toronto!

Besides small gatherings, we also go out for a walk whenever we have time and enjoy the beautiful summer right at our doorstep.

Taking a walk in Boston on an early summer evening, I have to say that I love this city more and more.

A day trip to Rhodes, this neighboring state is small but beautiful!

Is this a zoo or a botanical garden?

Sitting in a rocking chair, I could see a large green lawn and the bay in the distance. Another couple walked by and asked jokingly: Are you ready to sign a contract to buy this house?!

Rhode Island is famous for its grand estates from the Gilded Age, but smaller mansions that are less famous are also beautiful!

The Bay Pier, a picnic table, and some time just the two of us.

Afterwards, two retired American couples came, one moved from Boston to North Carolina, and the other started living in an RV. It was another joy to chat with everyone!

On another weekend, I was excited to go to the New England Botanical Garden in central Massachusetts. But I had a flat tire on the highway and had to wait for more than an hour before a tow truck came.

Should we thank the flat tire? We first sat on the tall trailer, although the feeling of being high up came with a high price!

When we arrived at the tire repair center, they didn’t have our tire model. Fortunately, my second son drove 40 minutes to come to the rescue! The son used the muscle strength he had trained in the gym to remove the old tire that the leader thought was impossible to remove manually, replaced it with a spare tire, and then slowly drove the car back. The leader sighed: It’s great to have a son, it’s great to have a son around!

To make up for that regret, I set out yesterday to visit the New England Botanical Garden again. Of course, I learned my lesson and joined AAA!

The botanical garden is beautiful even on cloudy days.

In June, I did not miss the Boston Pops Orchestra’s Broadway Night and attended an outdoor concert in the beautiful atrium of the Boston Library.

The beauty of summer is also at home, and we can’t even bear to throw away the fallen flowers!

The first round of harvest from the second child’s vegetable garden!

I wanted to be lazy during the Dragon Boat Festival and bought some Cantonese rice dumplings in Chinatown early, but the more I ate, the more I missed the taste of my childhood. In the end, greed overcame laziness, and I still love the Jiaxing rice dumplings with their fragrant sauce and mellow meat!

The new dish I learned to make this month is stuffed bell peppers. I finally learned how to wrap lace chive boxes!

In June, I spent a lot of time in front of the TV! A friend recommended “The Story of Roses” to me, and I watched episode 28 today.

I usually love watching detective dramas and courtroom dramas, and I have always regretted that I have never been asked to serve as a juror! Recently, a case in Massachusetts has caused a stir across the United States. A Boston police officer died tragically on the street on a snowy night. His girlfriend was accused by the police as a suspect, but the defense attorney said that his girlfriend was framed. The trial lasted for nine weeks and finally ended last week, but the jury has not yet reached a unanimous verdict. The case is confusing, who is right and who is wrong? In mid-June, the leader found that we could watch the live broadcast of the court trial, so I was glued to the TV, first catching up on the trial video I missed, and then following the live broadcast of the day. Now I am looking forward to the verdict being consistent with my own conclusion… I feel like I have learned an American law class in it!

I have been learning French with Duelingo for a year. I finally finished my first French book in June, and it was a picture book! This is a very slow pace, but I am a happy turtle. I rarely stick to something for a year, so I have to write it down, haha!

Thanks for reading, and have a good July!

Are you in Toronto? The Lake Island is Toronto’s hidden treasure. You can’t say you’ve really been to Toronto without visiting it.

What a beautiful article! Congratulations on the 18th basketball championship! My son is so good! It’s even better to have him by my side in an emergency! I admire you for sticking to learning French for a year! I have been doing it for more than 100 days now.

Wow, Danran always posts high-quality posts every month. What a rich life. A trip to Toronto on Father’s Day. Every bit of the wonderful life at home. I didn’t know your youngest son is a vegetable grower. That’s amazing! Today I will borrow a photo of your son in a hotel in Tokyo. Thank you here in advance, hahaha! 🙂
