The City of Saint-Constant inaugurated a new baseball field at the Outdoor Base on June 28, one year to the day after construction of the facility began.

Built at a cost of $1.72 million, the natural grass field responds to “a crying need for additional sports infrastructure for playing baseball,” according to the Municipality.

This one is located behind the refrigerated rink and is for minor league baseball players.

“We are pleased to offer young athletes a space where they can flourish, develop their team spirit and create unforgettable memories. Baseball is gaining popularity in Saint-Constant and it was essential to meet this demand with adequate infrastructure,” said Mayor Jean-Claude Boyer.

The project was carried out by Construction Morival Ltée.

As for the 4-season baseball complex project, the City is still waiting for a response to its grant application.

Let us recall that the City planned to build two synthetic baseball fields, one of which would be covered with a removable dome during the winter. The whole thing was also to see the light of day at the Outdoor Base.

The ribbon cutting took place in the presence of contractors, elected officials, the city’s general manager, employees involved in the project and the Roussillon Minor Baseball Association (ABM). (Photo: Courtesy)
