Club Brugge Welcomes Faitout Maouassa Back for the Upcoming Season

Club Brugge is in full preparation for the coming season. Nicky Hayen and his men welcome an unexpected return to the selection: Faitout Maouassa returns to Blauw-Zwart.

The left back was loaned to Spanish Granada for the past six months, but that club announced on official channels that he will return to the Jan Breydel Stadium. Maouassa still has a contract with Club Brugge until June 2025.

High transfer fee

Club Brugge put four million euros on the table for Maouassa in the summer of 2021. The left back had a market value of no less than twelve million euros at the time. Expectations were high for the French youth international, but he was never able to meet them.

In recent seasons, Maouassa was loaned to Montpellier, RC Lens and FC Granada respectively. At the latter, he was also unable to convince. Maouassa only played six matches in which he scored once. It remains to be seen where his future lies.

Lots of competition

Club Brugge already has Red Devil Maxim De Cuyper and Bjorn Meijer at left back. The latter is struggling with a serious injury, which means that a chance for Maouassa could be an option. Club Brugge will probably try to sell the defender in the upcoming summer transfer window.
