Coach André Jardine Signs Three-Year Contract Extension with Club América de México

Coach André Jardine’s job at América de México (at least in terms of his contract) is guaranteed for another three years. Through its official channels, the Mexico City-based club has officially signed a new contract that runs until 2027.

“Because we were all waiting for this moment… André Jardine until 2027!”, América reported in an image showing the members of his technical committee who work closest together on a daily basis.

A 44-year-old professional, André Jardine has had spells in Brazil at clubs such as Grêmio and São Paulo. In fact, he had his first experience as a coach of a main team at the São Paulo club between the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019. At the time, the team’s defeat in the previous group stage of the Libertadores, against Talleres, ended up costing him his dismissal.

Shortly after this brief experience, Jardine was part of the Olympic team, where he won an unprecedented gold medal in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. With a cycle that lasted until 2021, André Jardine made his first foray into Mexican football that same year when he took over Atlético San Luis.

At the San Luis Potosí club, the Brazilian coach took a team with less investment to the knockout stages of the Mexican Championship twice. This work caught the attention of América, which was looking for a new coach after the dismissal of Argentine Fernando Ortiz. And his first season in his current job could hardly have been better. This is because, in addition to leading the qualifying phase and winning the Apertura and Clausura of the Liga MX, he won the Copa de Campeones and the Supercopa de México.
