For the first time in the country, under the leadership of the Ministries of the Interior and Sports, the Internal Regulations of the National and National Technical Commission for Security, Comfort and Coexistence in Colombian Football were signed, which seeks to establish a regulatory framework to strengthen security and coexistence in football events that take place throughout the national territory.

The National Commission, made up of eight prominent representatives of the Government and sports entities, will provide technical support to local commissions in the football ecosystem, prepare risk assessments at sporting events and update safety and emergency protocols.

“In order to create this commission and develop something that was ordered by law in 2009, we had to raise a series of very important elements, starting with the fact that football is much more than a business, because at its core it develops the right of citizens to sport. This signature and these rules that are set out today are thanks to an exercise of agreement in which we managed to bring together all the actors: the Football Federation, DIMAYOR, the supporters’ clubs, the players, the sports journalists, among others. These rules will allow us to enjoy football in peace and it is satisfying that this is one of my last actions as Minister of the Interior,” said Luis Fernando Velasco, Head of the Government portfolio.

With this regulation, it is hoped not only to contribute to the comprehensive development of sport in Colombia, but also to guarantee the well-being and human security of all actors who are part of the football ecosystem in our country.

“After 15 years, this regulation has been signed, a fact of the utmost importance since until now each region made its own decisions at its discretion and this did not generate parity or equity in the way of approaching public policy around football and generated disputes and fights among fans, but thanks to the inter-institutional work, with this regulation we are going to democratize and improve the conditions for football in Colombia,” said Gabriel Rondón, leader of the National System of Coexistence for Life of the Ministry of the Interior.

For her part, the Minister of Sports, Luz Cristina López, highlighted the importance of the regulations as a tool that organizes and structures the football ecosystem and allows the enjoyment of this sport as a healthy spectacle.

“These regulations also give us guidelines on frequency, on the convening exercises, on the actions, not only to the National Commission but also to its Technical Commission that accompanies us and gives us an advisory line on all these important issues so that we can guarantee from now on a much more continuous and rigorous exercise on the issues of accompaniment and monitoring of the issues of security, comfort and coexistence in football,” the official stressed.
