Controversial Former Plopsa CEO Takes Seat on Antwerp Board

Steve Van den Kerkhof has been appointed as an external director on the Antwerp board, according to Nieuwsblad. He was the former CEO of Plopsa, but had to leave after 22 years due to dozens of accusations of inappropriate behavior.

Since January, Steve Van den Kerkhof worked as a consultant for Antwerp, recruited by the president Paul Gheysens to conduct an internal audit and examine how the club could generate more revenue and make savings.

His hiring at Antwerp was controversial because of his past at Plopsa, where former employees accused him of insults, offenses and harassment.

Although Van den Kerkhof maintained his innocence, Studio 100 – a film production company – decided to fire him after an investigation by the lawyer Christine Musse.

He was not on the payroll and was not initially a member of the board of directors. However, he regularly walked the aisles of the Bosuil.

Since May, Van den Kerkhof has officially been sitting on the board of Antwerp, alongside other prominent members such as N-VA politician Philippe MuytersCEO of Port of Antwerp-Bruges Jacques Vandermeiren and the entrepreneur Jürgen Ingels.
