Paris is hosting the ceremony on and along the Seine. The athletes will be taken across the river in the French capital by boat. 326,000 spectators will be able to watch the celebration along the banks of the Seine. The parade of boats will start at the Austerlitz Bridge and follow the course of the Seine from east to west. The first medals will be awarded on July 27th: in fencing, judo, shooting, skateboarding and swimming, but also in rugby sevens and the cycling road race.

In the first week of the Olympic Games, decisions will be made in rowing, equestrianism, table tennis, tennis and gymnastics, among others.

Other highlights include the decisions in athletics, canoeing and track cycling.

The mascot of the 2024 Olympics:

The mascot is called Phryge. The name and design are meant to symbolize freedom and revolution.

How many medals will be awarded?

At the Olympic Games in Paris, competitions will be held in 32 sports, in a total of 48 disciplines. Gold, silver and bronze will be awarded in 329 competitions. There are 5084 badges for these Olympic Games.
