Cuba Excels in Rio 2016: A Look at their Success

Cuba managed to place itself among the top 20 countries in Rio 2016 again

In the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, to the contagious rhythm of samba, Cuba achieved the great merit of reaffirming itself, against all odds, among the first 20 nations in the medal table.

The event resulted in five gold medals, two silver medals and four bronze medals for a total of 11, placing our country in 18th place. In London 2012 the numbers had been 5-3-7=15, placing us in 14th place.

The reader must have noticed some interesting data: five titles on both occasions and a place in the top 20: this is going to be the objective announced publicly, more than once, by our sports organization for the Paris 2024 Games, which will take place from July 26 to August 11.

A difficult goal, but always with the aspiration of setting high goals, beyond the difficulties.

Now let’s remember our 11 medalists.
