FC Bayern Munich, News: Backup keeper Daniel Peretz sees himself as ready for Bayern’s number one

Where Daniel Peretz will play next season is still open. “There is no decision yet,” he explained in an interview with Ynetnews. But should Vincent Kompany make the surprising decision that he would now be the number one goalkeeper for FC Bayern Munich instead of Manuel Neuer, he feels ready: “Absolutely! I have the skills to be Bayern’s first goalkeeper,” he replied when asked.

But Peretz was also grateful to be able to continue learning at FC Bayern. “I understand what I can take away from it. I benefit from the best training in the world – with the best finishers. With the best defenders and strikers. I benefit from the professionalism and personal support that goes beyond training on the pitch. This allows me to get the most out of myself. Of course, there is no substitute for gaining experience through playing time, but I have learned many other things that have made me a more mature, better goalkeeper.”

Despite the lack of appearances, he was satisfied with his role at FCB last season. “I feel much more grown up now. I’ve become a better goalkeeper. I believe in God, what he has in store for me is good. It’s very hard for me to just watch the games from the sidelines, but I try to make the best of every situation.”

His relationship with the current number one is good. When asked who he is closest to, he names Manuel Neuer first. “Apart from Neuer, I am in very good contact with Gnabry, Kane, Musiala and De Ligt. They are all very good to me and we are friends beyond the team. It is a lot of fun to experience all of this with people like that.”
