The “Day of Sports” took place for the sixth time in the Villach Alpen Arena on July 3, 2024. It offers 3,000 children and young people the opportunity to try out a wide variety of sports and discover their talents.

36 local clubs and sports associations will present themselves at “Day of Sports” and their sports. Fun, joy and enthusiasm for exercise are the focus of every activity.
First experience
“Events like this will be remembered by children and young people for a long time. Many Carinthian athletes gained their first experiences on Sports Day,” says Governor Peter KaiserHe thanked all participating clubs, associations and volunteers for their commitment, as well as the Managing Director of the Villacher Alpen Arena, Franz Smolineras well as Landessportdirektor Arno Arthofer.
“Sport inspires society”
For the state sports director, one thing is clear: “Since the great performance of our football team at the European Championships, it has been clear that sport inspires people across society. This event is a holiday for the sports state of Carinthia.” He also thanked all the organizers and volunteers involved.
Many different sports
“Sports Day” is traditionally celebrated on the Wednesday before the holidays. At various stations, children and young people can try out sports under supervision and instruction. These include classic club and team sports such as football, hockey or volleyball, but judo, chess and darts clubs also present their offerings.
