DeMar DeRozan Faces Uncertain Future as Free Agency Continues

Free agency is underway and DeMar DeRozan is establishing himself as the best player who has yet to find a team. Although many franchises have shown interest, the truth is that there are not many with significant salary cap space to make attractive offers, something that according to Chris Haynes, a journalist from Bleacher Reportis not going to make you lower your salary expectations.

In this sense, several teams have tried to use their Mid-Level Exceptionwhose value is close to 13 million dollars, but this figure does not seem to be even close to the interests of the forward. However, the teams capable of making him a significantly higher offer, such as the Pistons or the Jazz, do not fit the profile that could interest him, leaving his future at a slight crossroads.

DeRozan may therefore have to find a new destination through sign & traderenewing with the Bulls to be immediately transferred to another franchise. This would expand the number of teams that could acquire his services and allow Chicago to acquire an asset by losing one of its stars, although it remains to be seen what pieces the interested parties are willing to give up in order to get DeMar.

During the 23-24 season, he averaged 24 points and 5.3 assists, and even finished second in the voting for Clutch Player of the Year, behind only Stephen Curry. His good performance helped the Bulls reach the play-in, but with a stagnant project like Chicago’s, it seems to make sense to let him go and try to rebuild.
