Determined to strengthen their roster around Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs have quite a few big names in their sights. But not all of them are unanimous, starting with the latest player tracked by the Texan franchise… and that’s understandable.
San Antonio’s priority seemed obvious this offseason: finding the right players to surround Victor Wembanyama. The pivot proved himself during his rookie season, so there is no question of waiting and the franchise wants to quickly return to the top of the league. The arrival of Chris Paul at point guard could also do a lot of good for the Frenchman, who will play with a passing legend.
However, the Point God remains a 39-year-old veteran and his contract only lasts one year. So it’s not enough and the Texan leaders continue to look for the rare pearl, whether through free agency or on the transfer market. They have several ideas in mind… but one of them, recently revealed by a journalist from Miami Heraldhas something to seem pretty crazy.

Spurs ready to bring back DeMar DeRozan?
As a reminder, the winger knows the Spurs very well since he played there between 2018 and 2021. Having left for Chicago after that, he still averaged 24 points, more than 4 rebounds and 5 assists last season. But in reality, it’s hard to imagine a successful cohabitation between him and the French prodigy, DMDR not being particularly keen on playing without the ball. The Spurs supporters are therefore fiercely against such a scenario:

Three years after his departure for the Bulls, San Antonio would not rule out bringing back DeMar DeRozan. A rather dubious choice on the part of the management, because the first experience had not been conclusive. It is also not certain that he is the ideal playing partner for Victor Wembanyama, which seems to be the priority at this stage.
