Denver Nuggets Targeting Russell Westbrook in Imminent Trade Deal

The Nuggets are not having a promising start to free agency after losing a team executive. Nikola Jokic wants a reaction, to the point where he is pushing for a trade in particular behind the scenes.

Despite winning the championship, the Nuggets are not satisfied and want to continue to play for the title in the West. But has their window to win the championship not closed? Possible for some observers, who believe that the franchise will not be able to recover from the recent losses. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope comes to mind.

An imminent trade for the Nuggets?

A year after losing Bruce Brown, Denver lost KCP to free agency. A big blow considering his experience and contribution on the court, and let’s just say that replacing him will be anything but easy. The Nuggets are looking around the market for a solution and Nikola Jokic has one, as he wants Russell Westbrook to be his teammate.

Nikola Jokic and DeAndre Jordan are pushing the Nuggets to trade for Russell Westbrook, according to Joey Linn.

Westbrook was well on his way to becoming a free agent but he decided to accept his player option, extending his contract for an additional season in the City of Angels. The Nuggets must therefore negotiate with the Clippers to bring him in, but let’s just say that it won’t necessarily be unanimous among the fans.

Note however that according to Shams Charania, the Clippers are open to trading Westbrook to another team. If the Nuggets’ interest exists, and it should be the case under the leadership of Nikola Jokic, a deal should be possible.

The Clippers are actively working to find a trade for Russell Westbrook.

Nikola Jokic wants Russell Westbrook to join the Nuggets, and he’s clearly not the only one. Is a deal possible? We should know more by the end of the week.
