Devin Carter undergoes shoulder surgery, set to miss significant time: Kings’ rookie not close to NBA debut

Devin Carter is not close to making his NBA debut. Injured in the left shoulder, the 13th choice of the 2024 Draft underwent surgery this Thursday to repair his torn labrum. Victim of the same injury as Julius Randle or Ja Morant, the Kings rookie is already on the sidelines for at least six months, as announced by the franchise.

Devin Carter will not be re-evaluated until January and will therefore miss at least the first three months of competition. The injury occurred before the 2024 Draft workouts.

Anthony Carter’s son will therefore have to wait a little longer than expected, and he warned fans of the franchise in a message left on his social networks. “Bag! Thanks for believing in me. I’ll be back soon and I can’t wait to show you this guy you picked.”

Last year, Devin Carter stood out for Providence with 19.7 points on 47.3% shooting, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists in 35.3 minutes of play per game. He also showed that he was a very good defender, perhaps one of the best in this draft class.

The guard/point guard will have to fight to get minutes in the rotation behind Kevin Huerter, Malik Monk or Keon Ellis. The good news is that Chris Duarte and Davion Mitchell are gone, but DeMar DeRozan is here, and there’s still De’Aaron Fox.
