The DFL has announced the Bundesliga schedule for the 2024/25 season. Defending champion Leverkusen opens in Gladbach – and will face FC Bayern in September.

The DFL had already announced on Thursday morning that champions Bayer 04 Leverkusen will open the 62nd Bundesliga season on Friday, August 23, at 8:30 p.m. with a guest appearance at Borussia Mönchengladbach. Now the rest of the schedule for 2024/25 has also been published.
FC Bayern, dethroned by Leverkusen, and their new coach Vincent Kompany will start their hunt for their 33rd Bundesliga title on August 24 or 25 at VfL Wolfsburg. Apart from the opening game, the DFL will only schedule the matches for the first few match days between July 15 and 19.
Vice-champion VfB Stuttgart will face SC Freiburg, Champions League finalist Borussia Dortmund will face Eintracht Frankfurt. Newly promoted Holstein Kiel will play the first Bundesliga game in its history against TSG Hoffenheim, and second division champion FC St. Pauli will return to the top flight with a home game against 1. FC Heidenheim.
FC Bayern and Leverkusen will meet in Munich on matchday 5 (27 to 29 September). BVB will face FCB on matchday 12 (29 November to 1 December).
The new competitive season begins the weekend before with the first round matches in the DFB Cup and the DFL Supercup, in which Leverkusen and Stuttgart face each other on August 17th (8.30 p.m.). On December 23rd, the Bundesliga will take a winter break until January 10th, 2025, then it will continue with the 16th matchday, on which BVB will host Leverkusen, among others. The 34th and final matchday is scheduled for May 17th.
