Dominican Judoka Robert Florentino Qualifies for Paris 2024 Olympic Games

Work, consistency, discipline and courage have led the Dominican judoka, Robert Florentinoto others Olympic Gamesnow for Paris.

It is fair to remember that since the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, where the country won the first Olympic medal with Pedro Julio Nolasco, Dominican judo has been present in every Olympic Games. His first participation was in Moscow 1972.

Florentino obtained the ticket through the continental ranking, in position 30 where he reached 2,274 points, valid to go to Paris. He is the 50th DR athlete to walk.

Florentino’s qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games was achieved thanks to his consistent performance in the World Judo Tour events, which are key to adding points to the world ranking of the International Judo Federation (IJF).

Florentino, a native of San Juan de la Maguana, is a young man dedicated to sports, judo, with a clean career on and off the tatami. “His work, dedication and discipline have always guided him,” said the president of the Judo Federation, Gilberto García, with joy when speaking with HOY. “Florentino is now a winner, he will take the Dominican flag to Paris, that is called triumphing,” he said.
