Dresden – Mayor Dirk Hilbert (52, FDP) has lost his personal advisor. Henry Buschmann (41) left the town hall at the end of June – after just eleven months.

The long-time press spokesman for Dynamo Dresden joined Hilbert’s mayoral election campaign team in 2022 after a break.

Later, in August of last year, Hilbert hired him as his personal assistant. In his role, Buschmann was to support Hilbert’s personal communication and accompany him to appointments.

That is now over. According to the town hall, Mr Buschmann ended his employment with the city at his own request and by mutual agreement. Buschmann himself confirmed this, but did not want to comment further. According to TAG24 information, he wants to find a new career.

It is still unclear whether Hilbert would like to look for a new speaker. Like the councillors (mayors), the mayor is entitled to such a person.

However, the position had been vacant for many years before Buschmann took office. Gerit Thomas (51) held the job until 2018, but then changed positions and business areas.

Hilbert’s closest confidant is the former head of the press office, Kai Schulz (50), whom Hilbert promoted to the position of powerful “director” in the mayor’s office last year.
