Dylan Groenewegen is not hanging around in Dijon – Libération

Jayco Alula team sprinter was the fastest in the streets of the capital of Burgundy to win the 6th stage of the Grande Boucle. The general classification is unchanged.

He arrived, not without hurrying. Like the masked avenger in the song, his nose decked out in a pair of supposedly aerodynamic glasses that have been the talk of the town since the start of the Tour, Dylan Groenewegen (Jayco Alula) won in a sprint on Thursday, July 4, in Dijon. The Dutchman finished a gut ahead of the Belgian Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck), the big favorite for mass finishes on paper but once again second – and ultimately downgraded for not holding his line, as is often the case. This is the third sprint finish in this Tour de France after the victories of Biniam Girmay (Intermaché-Wanty) in Turin and Mark Cavendish (Astana Qazaqstan) in Saint-Vulbas.

Up until then, the stage that started in Mâcon had had a very calm start, without any rider taking a breakaway, a rarity on the roads of the Tour. As if everyone had a feeling, on Antoine Griezmann’s native land, that the firedamp was coming. Because 80 kilometers from the finish, thanks to a sudden change of direction in the village of Meursault, several teams suddenly screwed up, to cause a swerve. Part of the peloton found itself trapped a few cables from a group of favorites where the yellow jersey, Tadej Pogacar, found himself without a teammate. That too is incongruous. But the swerve did not last long and the peloton regrouped to melt towards the capital of Burgundy. Nothing changes in the general classification.
