The Ecuadorian national team announced this Friday the dismissal of technical director Félix Sánchez Bas after his team was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Copa América being held in the United States.
The team announced the news through a statement on its account on social network X (formerly Twitter), where they thanked the team for its work in charge of the tricolor bench.

“We thank Felix and his coaching staff for their work and professionalism, and we wish them success in their future projects,” added the statement from the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF).

The announcement comes just one day after Ecuador’s defeat to Argentina in the quarter-finals of the tournament organised by Conmebol.
Sánchez Bas’s team did not perform at their best in the Copa América, losing in their debut against Venezuela, beating Jamaica and drawing against Mexico to barely qualify from the Group Stage with four points.
