Elly De La Cruz Shines in Cincinnati Reds’ Victory over New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium

Playing in her first game at Yankee Stadium, Elly De La Cruz hit a triple and a home run to help the Cincinnati Reds to a 5-4 victory over the New York Yankees on Tuesday.

It’s already a fifth game with a triple and a home run for De La Cruz.

The 22-year-old Dominican was playing his 183rd game in the big leagues.

He and Will Benson hit two-run homers in the fifth. It was De La Cruz’s 15th home run.

De La Cruz led off the fourth with his sixth three-base hit of the season — a NL lead, tied with Corbin Carroll of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Yankees’ Aaron Judge hit a 32nd home run among his three hits.

He leads Major League Baseball in home runs, RBIs (83) and batting average (.321).

Graham Ashcraft (5-4) allowed three runs and four hits in five innings. Alexis Diaz collected his 18th save.

Luis Gil (9-4) gave up four runs, two hits and three walks in four innings. He also hit two batters.

After posting a 9-1 record with a 2.03 ERA in 14 starts, Gil is 0-3 with a 14.90 ERA in his last three starts.
