Last-second overhead kick dream goal – England’s spectacular rescue in video

The English national team averts the embarrassment against Slovakia at the last second. Bellingham shoots the Three Lions into extra time with an overhead kick, then Kane turns the game around. Watch the highlights of the game here in the video.

England put in an indisputable performance over 94 minutes in the round of 16 against Slovakia. But then Jude Bellingham strikes with an overhead kick. The goal could be a turning point in what has been a disappointing tournament so far and could secure coach Gareth Southgate’s job.

Jude Bellingham played the free kick short on the halfway line. He wanted to pass the ball to his teammate John Stones, but Stones did not expect the pass. Slovakia’s striker David Strelec jumped in and shot the ball from 60 meters towards the English goal. His shot went just wide. It would have been the deciding factor in the round of 16 between England and Slovakia.

Also because the English national team played poorly for 94 minutes. But then Bellingham came along and saved his team with the most beautiful goal of the tournament so far, taking them into extra time and preventing them from being eliminated. Bellingham took off from the penalty spot and smashed the ball into the right corner with an overhead kick. The end result was an extremely lucky 2-1 win for the English, who will face Switzerland in the quarter-finals next Saturday in Düsseldorf.

With this spectacular overhead kick, Bellingham saves England from elimination

The English national team made a dramatic save and made it to the quarter-finals. In the fifth minute of injury time, Jude Bellingham scored a spectacular overhead kick to equalize against Slovakia. Watch his goal in the video here.

The free kick scene at the start of the second half was emblematic of a weak performance by the English, who only had one clear goal-scoring opportunity before the overhead kick in injury time. The team, packed with superstars, played sluggishly, harmlessly and without ideas. Just like in the preliminary round, in which England struggled to a win and two draws against Slovenia, Denmark and Serbia. An exit in the round of 16 would probably have meant the end for coach Gareth Southgate.

“It was an incredible goal from Jude. It was one of the best goals in our country’s history. It was a great moment,” said England captain Harry Kane.

Bellingham wird „Man of the Match“

Only Bellingham fought back against the threat of being eliminated from the European Championship in the round of 16 with his body language and his performance in midfield. The Real Madrid star, who moved from BVB to Spain a year ago, wore himself out in midfield and tried to get his teammates involved.

Visibly exhausted, he was substituted at half-time of extra time. Even without their best player, England held on to their lead and avoided a penalty shootout. After the game, Bellingham was named “Man of the Match.” “We showed that we are ready and showed character.”
