JAKARTA – The draw for the men’s doubles of the sports branch (cabor) at the 2024 Paris Olympics has placed the pair Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Rian Ardianto in Group C.
Former world number ones Fajar/Rian are certain to be avoided from entering a five-pairing group after the draw results are finalised on Monday 15 July 2024.
Group C is manned by former world number one of Indian origin, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, German representative Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Seidel and the host pair Gazient/Lucas Corvee.
If you look at the potential opponents, Fajar/Rian’s chances of reaching the quarter-finals are high. Their toughest opponent is definitely the Satwiksairaj/Chirag pair.
On paper, Fajar/Rian has been recorded as having met the pair five times. However, their losing record is even lower, which is 2-3.
Fajar/Rian have met the German pair four times. They have dominated with a 3-1 winning record, all victories coming in their last three meetings.
