It could be Andy Murray’s last appearance on Wimbledon’s Centre Court. Fortunately, he has family support. Our highlights from day four…

Match of the Day: Tommy Paul vs. Alexander Bublik (Court 2, 12 Uhr MESZ)

There aren’t that many 500s on grass. In 2023 and 2024 combined, there will be a total of four. And an incredible 50 percent of the winners of these events are now on Court 2. Tommy Paul, the old gunslinger, was successful at the Queen’s Club a few days ago. Alexander Bublik’s victory in HalleWestfalen was a little more than twelve months ago. But the grass suits the Kazakh, so a few treats with a lot of cut can be expected. When, that remains to be seen (see below).

Favorites-Watch: Alcaraz, Sinner, Gauff in action

If Frances Tiafoe loses his match against Carlos Alcaraz (from 2:30 p.m. CEST on Centre Court), there is probably no danger of Tiafoe labelling the three-time major champion as a “clown”. The American has called some of his conquerors this in recent months – without being specific. Jannik Sinner will (want to) follow up on his performance against Matteo Berrettini in the third match on Centre Court against Miomir Kecmanovic. And Coco Gauff will be allowed to complete the scheduled play on Court 1 against Briton Sonay Kartal.

Upset Alert: Emma Raducanu vs. Maria Sakkari (Centre Court, second match after 14:30 CEST)

Yes, we were dazzled by Emma’s smooth victory against Elise Mertens. But we did so with joy. And since Maria is still on formal terms with the grass, we would be choking on the Mozartkugel we brought with us if the British fans didn’t have something to celebrate after this match.

And what does the weather app say?

After his second-round victory against Zhizhen Zhang, Jan-Lennard Struff noted that he had already canceled Germany’s European Championship match against Spain. It was to be expected that his match against Daniil Medvedev would be scheduled for one of the two covered courts. Far from it! Struff and Medvedev have to play their second match after 12 noon CEST on Court 2. And the weather forecast is so mediocre that it does not seem impossible that Struffi could be sitting in front of a television when the match kicks off at 5 p.m. local time.

Here is the schedule for Friday
