Deep gratitude to Frates
The Club bids farewell with deep gratitude to Frates who, with this three-year term as Technical and Sports Director, has written another page in its history in white and blue.
The words of Allievi
“Fabrizio was the protagonist of some moments that will remain forever in the history of Italian and Cantù basketball – declares the president Roberto Students – He leaves an important memory also in his last adventure in Pallacanestro Cantù, in which I was able to appreciate his collaboration and dedication. I wish him to collect great satisfactions in his professional future”.
Santoro’s comment
“In this profession there are moments in which some decisions make you feel uncomfortable. This is one of the most emblematic cases because we are talking about a professional figure of substance, a good person and a great architect of the glorious history of Pallacanestro Cantù – comments Alessandro Santoro – The last three years have been difficult for everyone, Fabrizio has given everything he could, always with the maximum commitment, but this decision arises from the beginning of the new cycle of the Club and the consequent change of all the operating procedures within the sports area, certainly not from the qualities in a general sense that Fabrizio has lavished in all these years in which we have collaborated together. Anyone who will avail themselves of his work will be able to verify and touch with their own hands his competence and his undoubted abilities. I wish him the best he desires. My feeling and my hope is that this will happen soon”.
Frates member of the Cantù Hall of Fame
Already a member of the Pallacanestro Cantù Hall of Fame, Frates began his long adventure in Cantù first as a coach of the youth sector and then of the first team. In his first three seasons as head coach he earned a place in history by lifting the 1991 Korac Cup, the last European trophy won by the Club. A relationship that continued on two other occasions: first with another season on the bench in 1998-99 and finally with his return as a manager in 2021.
