Isabelle Férey, a teacher at the Judo Club of Isigny-sur-Mer (Calvados), is leaving the club as she had announced last December. “I travel 200 km round trip to come and take classes here, I was working at a loss, the office found a solution to allow me to finish the season,” she said.

Attached to the club and the new team in place, as well as to the young judokas, it is not without emotion, but relief that she hands over to Patrick Bulleryal who will take over the lessons at the start of the school year in September. The two have known each other for a long time, having had the same teacher on the tatami. For two months, they have been teaching lessons together; the new recruit, who lives in the area, will allow the judo activity to continue.

Smooth handover

“In 1990, I left for Eure for professional reasons, then I returned to Calvados two years ago. The club contacted me and I accepted so as not to see a club close, for the children’s pleasure and also my own, I missed the kimono!” says the new teacher.

Some changes will be made to the organization, the club will only welcome judokas from the age of five. In order to boost the activity, sessions will be offered by age group on different slots taking into account the students’ other activities.

“Currently, the second group on Friday is too large in terms of ages, and in terms of teaching, I will not be able to manage this age gap. I work with games on the carpet, of course, we do not do anything, but the important thing for me is that the children are happy.”
