Farewell to Shion Homma: From Nightmares in Brussels to Urawa Red Diamonds

Just over a year ago, he gave Union SG a very bad evening. Some supporters of the Brussels team probably still dream badly of him. But next season we won’t see him in the Jupiler Pro League.

He didn’t play much in the A-core of Club Brugge, because Shion Homma was mainly active at Club NXT. But in Brussels they still have nightmares about him, especially in the area of โ€‹โ€‹Vorst and Sint-Gillis.

Homma’s most famous feat at Club is his late equalizer against Union SG in the 2022-2023 title race. As a result, it was Antwerp and not Union that ultimately won the title in the Jupiler Pro League.

Shion Homma is now no longer a Club Brugge player. Blauw-zwart has announced via social media that Homma has signed for Urawa Red Diamonds and has therefore closed the gates of Jan Breydel behind him.

The departure of the 23-year-old Japanese player had been in the air for a while, but now it has been officially confirmed by the people of Bruges. And so Homma can fly to Japan to finalize everything at his new club.

Last season he scored two goals and provided six assists for Club NXT, but played only 93 minutes for the A-team in all competitions. The lion’s share of that in a European preliminary round against KA Akureyri.
