FC Schalke 04 Makes Tactical Financial Moves with Emil Højlund Transfer

Financially, FC Schalke 04 is still far from being in a bed of roses. In the summer of 2024, S04 has already made a big splash on the transfer market. In addition to groundbreaking sales, skillful negotiation also makes this approach possible. This now seems to be true in the case of Emil Højlund.

Emil Højlund from Danish first division club FC Copenhagen is preparing to become FC Schalke 04’s eleventh external new signing for the upcoming second division season. This has been reported by the media for days. This includes “Sky”, which now also comes up with a surprising piece of information.

According to the TV station, Royal Blue wants to finalize the deal this week. The exchange with the representatives of the 19-year-old attacker is “very advanced” and an agreement has already been reached with Copenhagen.

What is particularly interesting, however, is what “Sky” claims to have learned: The Knappen are paying a modest 300,000 euros for the Danish junior national player – including possible bonus payments. Most recently, there was talk of around half a million euros.

Højlund, whose contract in the Danish capital expires at the end of 2024, is expected to sign a contract with Schalke that will run “at least” until 2028. In order not to jeopardize the transfer, Højlund is said to have even decided not to take part in the U19 European Championship.

Højlund still plays for FC Copenhagen’s youth team and is still waiting for his breakthrough into the professional ranks, having played for the first team three times so far.

Much better known is his older brother Rasmus, who moved from Atalanta Bergamo to Manchester United in the summer of 2023 for more than 70 million euros. Emil Højlund’s twin brother Oscar also recently signed with Eintracht Frankfurt. The Hessians are said to have paid around 1.3 million euros.
