Fined for lack of transparency on salary cap compliance, Toulon announces appeal

Sanctioned with a fine of 500,000 euros for a “failure to comply with the general obligation of transparency and cooperation” regarding the French salary cap during the 2022-2023 season, Toulon denies any deviation. “Rugby Club Toulonnais has not exceeded the salary cap ceiling, which is also recognized by the National Rugby League and its disciplinary committee,” the Toulon club responded in a press release on Tuesday.

The 500,000 euro fine is “firmly contested” by Toulon, which adds that it “will appeal this decision in the next few days to the Appeals Commission of the French Rugby Federation”. The club has in fact to appeal to this commission.
