In the debut of coach Mano Menezes, Fluminense drew 1-1 with Internacional this Thursday (04/07) at Maracanã, in a match valid for the 14th round of the Brazilian Championship. Paulo Henrique Ganso, with a beautiful shot from outside the area, scored the tricolor’s goal in the match. With the result, the team reached seven points in the competition.
The team returns to the field on Sunday (07/07), when they face Fortaleza, at 4 pm, at Arena Castelão, for the 15th round.
FIRST TIME
Fluminense approached the penalty area in the first minute of the game. Alexsander stole the ball in midfield, found Cano further ahead and the striker had his shot blocked. At 9 minutes, Alexsander recovered the ball again, this time closer to the goal, and passed it to Cano, who, inside the area, stopped it at the post. Next, Diogo Barbosa advanced on the left and crossed low into the penalty area, but no one was able to finish.
After a few more moves in the attacking half, Tricolor came close to threatening again in the 38th minute. Samuel Xavier sent the ball into the box, Keno headed it and the goalkeeper took possession. In the 39th minute, Igor Gomes scored for Internacional. In the 44th minute, Keno got past his marker on the left side, crossed and Thiago Santos controlled it with his chest, but the defense managed to clear it. In injury time, Ganso sent a bomb from the middle of the field and tied the score.
SECOND TIME
In the first minute of the second half, Samuel Xavier went to the baseline, crossed low and Cano, with a sliding tackle, just missed reaching it. At 3 minutes, Samuel took a free kick and the goalkeeper took possession. At 23 minutes, Ganso threw the ball into the area with a free kick in the middle and Thiago Santos headed it, which the goalkeeper saved. At 24 minutes, Douglas Costa received the ball on the right, cut inside, shot and the goalkeeper saved it once again.
In the 34th minute, Keno pressured the defender inside the area and caused an error by the opponent, creating a dangerous move that, however, did not result in a shot. In the 42nd minute, Douglas Costa took a free kick towards the goal and the goalkeeper kept the ball. In the 43rd minute, Keno crossed and Gabriel Pires headed over. In injury time, John Kennedy received the ball towards the goal, invaded the area, dribbled the marker, but was unable to finish the move.
