Former G-League top defender Shaquille Harrison signs with ASVEL

An experienced player lands at Asvel. The Villeurbanne club announced the signing of Shaquille Harrison (30 years old) on Tuesday. The American arrives in France after having always played in the United States, from 2016 to 2024. Trained at the University of Tulsa, the point guard/guard was not drafted in 2016 but was able to bounce back, mainly in the G-League. After starting with the Northern Arizona Suns, Harrison played his first minutes in the NBA in 2018 with the Phoenix Suns, without managing to impose himself.

Two-time G-League best defender

The rest of his career was a succession of inconclusive stints in NBA franchises (Chicago Bulls, Utah Jazz, Denver Nuggets, Brooklyn Nets, Portland Blazers, Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis). But it was in the G-League that he built his reputation, notably thanks to his defensive qualities.

“Twice voted G-League Defender of the Year, Shaq will bring his physical impact, defense and versatility to the backcourt,” Asvel said on X. The Villeurbanne club has its third recruit of the offseason, following the arrivals of Neal Sako and Admiral Schofield last week.
