After a short and failed experience at the Leicester Tigers with whom he finished in a disappointing 8th place (out of 10), Dan McKellar was quick to bounce back. The 47-year-old Australian returns to Super Rugby, which he won in 2020 with the Brumbies. The Waratahs franchise announced on Friday his arrival as head coach for the next three seasons.
“Dan has an impressive CV, having achieved great things with the Brumbies in Super Rugby for five seasons (2018-2022). He will work closely with High Performance Director Simon Raiwalui and I am confident they will enable us to sustain high performance from 2025 and beyond,” commented club boss Paul Doorn.
It will be up to the former Wallabies assistant coach (2021-2023) to revive a group that is coming out of a season that fell far short of expectations and in which it only won two matches.
