In 2018, Zelmanis played two games for the Latvian U-18 national team, but in the following two years he accumulated experience of nine matches in the U-19 national team. He has scored four goals and won a place with the team in the elite round of the 2020 European Championship, which was canceled due to the spread of Covid-19.
