Four matches in the round of 16 Euro 2024 it has been going on since Saturday (29/6). Four teams advanced to the quarter-finals, while four others were eliminated.
Italia became the first team to be eliminated in the round of 16 of Euro 2024. As defending champions, Gli Azzurri performed unconvincingly and were crushed by Switzerland. La Nati advanced to the quarter-finals after winning 2-0, while Italy entered the box.
Following Italy’s failure to defend the title, Denmark also had to go home early. The Dynamite team failed to overthrow the host Germany. There were controversies that made Christian Eriksen and his friends fail to score a goal and had to accept a 0-2 defeat from Die Mannschaft.
After a fairly surprising first day of the round of 16 with Italy’s defeat, the second day of the quarter-finals battle almost produced a stir.
England was almost beaten by Slovakia. Ivan Schranz’s goal in the 25th minute was only answered by Jude Bellingham in the final minutes of the match. After the score remained at 1-1 and the match continued into extra time, Harry Kane scored the winning goal for England.
Slovakia, who almost gave England a slap in the face, became the third team to pack their bags.
A somewhat similar story was also told by Georgia. The team that appeared attractive at Euro 2024 was forced to return home to Spain after taking an early lead.
Robin Le Normand’s own goal gave Georgia the lead in the 18th minute. An explosive Spain then hit back through Rodri in the 39th minute.
La Furia Roja then scored three more goals in the second half through Fabian Ruiz, Nico Williams and Dani Olmo.
A crushing 1-4 defeat to Spain meant that Georgia’s progress would not continue at Euro 2024.
