Foursome for entry into Austrian Bowl

The two semi-finals of the Austrian Football League (AFL) are scheduled for this weekend. On Saturday (from 4:20 p.m., live on ORF Sport +) the Thalheim Graz Giants and the Prague Black Panthers will face each other, and on Sunday (from 4:55 p.m., live on ORF Sport +) there will be a repeat of last year’s final between the Vienna Vikings and defending champions Danube Dragons.

The Giants are hoping to make it to the Austrian Bowl for the first time since 2016 and, with a 9-1 record from the regular season, are also the favorites for the duel with the Czechs (6-4). Head coach Michael Mattingly is eager for a home win in an interview with ORF: “That’s why we’re playing, we want to play in the Austrian Bowl in front of a huge crowd, and we deserve it.”

In the Vienna derby, the Vikings are hoping for revenge for two final defeats in a row. This year they have already won two games against the Dragons. “We have analyzed the two games intensively and implemented our improvements,” said head coach Benjamin Sobotka before the explosive duel on Sunday.
