France Implements Carpool Lanes to Combat Traffic Jams

In France, they want to tackle the long traffic jams. The French government is now encouraging carpooling. Lanes have been introduced where only cars with two or more occupants are allowed to drive. This is reported by Het Laatste Nieuws. This is the case, for example, on the A48 between Lyon and Grenoble.

The logo indicating the carpool lane is a white diamond on a blue background, or on a black background on a variable traffic sign. The lanes are not available all day. It is currently an eight-kilometre stretch with a dynamic system.
