TanakanoueBefore going independent, I was employed as the director of a clinic. I felt that my job was rewarding because I could receive words of gratitude directly from customers, but at the same time, I began to feel frustrated with the environment in the osteopathic clinic industry, where the voices of the therapists working on the front lines do not reach the management. So, in order to create an environment where those working on the front lines can continue to work with enthusiasm, I opened “Start Acupuncture and Osteopathy Clinic” in 2022.
NishiokaHe said that it all started with his love for his friends.
TanakanoueYes. Not only that, but we also wanted to create an environment where patients could visit us with peace of mind. As part of this effort, we have introduced AI measuring equipment. By quantifying the results of treatment and the physical condition of our customers, we are able to visualize the effectiveness of treatment. Another feature of our clinic is the reasonable prices that make it easy to visit us.
NishiokaIf changes in the customer’s body can be quantified, therapists will also have to hone their skills.
TanakanoueThat’s right. I think my role as the manager is to create a system where therapists can enthusiastically work on improving their skills and grow, and to create a place where my coworkers can shine.
NishiokaI think that’s wonderful. I heard that you will also start running a beauty salon from April 2024.
TanakanoueYes. With the concept of “beautiful bone slimming,” we offer slimming treatments such as hand treatments and radio frequency treatments, as well as posture correction treatments such as slouching and pelvic tightening, all at affordable prices that make it easy to visit. Also, because we are a private salon that operates by appointment only, you can relax and enjoy your treatment.
NishiokaIt’s a salon where you can feel safe in terms of both the price and the environment. President Tanoue has strong feelings for his customers and staff, but what is the origin of this?
TanakanoueI have an uncle who suffers from cancer, which affects one in a million people. When I was feeling down after failing the first exam to become a judo therapist, my uncle told me, “Kenji is the one who is suffering the most,” even though he was in a situation where he might die. At that moment, I strongly felt that I wanted to be a man like my uncle, who can care for and protect those around him even when he is in a difficult situation.
NishiokaThat thought is what drives you, President Tanoue. Finally, please tell us about your future prospects.
TanakanoueIn the future, we plan to expand our business into the food and exercise fields. My mission is to make everyone involved in life happy. Therefore, I want to build a business model that makes both customers and staff happy, and make our company the world’s number one group company in the total wellness field.
