Future uncertain for Kasper Schmeichel and Thomas Delaney after leaving RSC Anderlecht

Kasper Schmeichel and Thomas Delaney are officially no longer players of RSC Anderlecht since today. The future of the experienced Danes is doubtful. Will they stay another year in the Lotto Park?

Casper Schmeichel

Schmeichel had a very strong year at RSCA and was a points winner. He also played a good European Championship with a very strong match against Germany. There will undoubtedly be interest in him. Nottingham Forest already beckoned in January, but in the meantime he has already received an offer from Saudi Arabia.

“I have had offers, yes, but they mean nothing to me. In Saudi Arabia I would no longer have a chance to play for the national team. Moreover, the sporting level there is not comparable to that of the major European competitions,” the 37-year-old goalkeeper told Bold. Schmeichel will undoubtedly sit down with Jesper Fredberg again.

Thomas Delaney

Delaney was hired by Anderlecht for a year from Sevilla. He had a difficult season with injuries. But at the European Championship he proved against Germany that he can be of great value to RSCA if he is top fit. Only a deal is difficult for the time being because of the wage demands and Anderlecht is eyeing Dennis Praet.

Delaney is still uncertain about his future in club and national team. “Whether I will continue as an international? That is a good question. I also have to see how my career will continue”, he said.
