Genoa is investigating the possibilities of picking up Diant Ramaj from Ajax, Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Saturday. The Serie A team is looking for a replacement for Josep MartÃnez, who has left for Inter, and sees the Amsterdam goalkeeper as a suitable successor.
According to the transfer market expert, bringing in Ramaj will not be an easy operation. After all, the goalkeeper still has a four-year contract at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
On the other hand, director of football affairs Alex Kroes has made it clear several times that Ajax is in financial trouble and that the club will have to sell. It is not clear for what amount the Amsterdammers are prepared to let Ramaj go.
Due to the difficult situation in Amsterdam, the goalkeeper would certainly be open to a departure. Coach Francesco Farioli recently made it clear that Remko Pasveer is currently preferred over Ramaj, who wants to play anyway.
Ramaj is not the only goalkeeper on Genoa’s list, as it was previously announced that the developments surrounding David de Gea and Dominik Kotarski are being monitored.
Ramaj is contracted to the Johan Cruijff ArenA until mid-2028. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value at 18 million euros. Last summer, then technical director Sven Mislintat took over the young goalie from Eintracht Frankfurt for around 5 million euros.
Ramaj had a difficult start at Ajax, but kept himself in the starting line-up during the past season. In his first 31 matches under the bar at Ajax, the goalie only managed to keep a clean sheet 5 times. In total, Ramaj had to concede 51 goals.
