Germany’s U12 National Baseball Team Victorious at European Championships

On Wednesday evening, the German U12 national baseball team secured its second victory at the European Championships in Paderborn. The team led by national coach Dominik Buder triumphed against France with a score of 5:2.

Germany started the game with Tizian Raphael Fabius Sulilatu (C), Keylen Taris Fernandez Ruiz (SS), Jonathan Strübing (CF), Felix Blesing (P), Matthes Max Schwarcke (3B), Raphael Acbas (1B), Ben Maximilian Rudolph (LF), Yannick Post (RF) and Thore Warlies (2B).

The German team scored two runs in the first inning and secured an early lead. Keylen Taris Fernandez Ruiz came to first with a hit and moved up to second with a walk from Jonathan Strübing. Felix Blesing then brought the ball into play, allowing Fernandez Ruiz and Strübing to reach the next base. Matthes Max Schwarcke scored the first run with an RBI single, followed by an RBI single from Raphael Acbas to take a 2-0 lead. In the same inning, the French were able to reduce the lead to 2-1.

After a scoreless 2nd inning, Jonathan Strübing increased the lead to 5:1 with a solo home run and Matthes Max Schwarcke with a two-run home run. In the 6th inning, France was able to shorten the lead to 5:2 before closer Matthes Max Schwarcke secured the win with a strikeout for the third out.

In the other matches, the Netherlands won 12-2 against Austria, the Czech Republic won 21-0 against Ukraine and Italy won 21-0 against Lithuania.

With two wins each, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy and the Netherlands have already qualified for the semi-finals.

Tomorrow’s matchday starts at 10:30 a.m. with the match between Lithuania and Austria. At 1:00 p.m. the match between Italy and the Netherlands follows, and from 3:30 p.m. between Ukraine and France. At 6:00 p.m. Germany will face the Czech Republic, who – like Germany – have won both of their previous games.
