BASEBALL. The Granby Junior Elite Warriors have been playing some serious baseball lately. Martin Bérubé’s troop is returning from a victorious trip to Charlesbourg where they won the grand finale of the first edition of the BFL Canada Mid-Season Tournament of the Quebec Junior Elite Baseball League. Nothing less.
The statistics collected by the Warriors during this tournament are unequivocal: five victories in as many matches, 55 points scored, 11 points allowed.
During the game to obtain the Champions Trophy, the Guerriers and the Royal de Repentigny exchanged the lead on a few occasions during the game. But a four-run surge in the 4th inning paved the way for a 9-5 victory for the Granbyens.
Bruno Rousselle won the mound. In 3 innings and 1 third in relief, he allowed 4 hits and a free pass to the Royal. For Repentigny, Louka Daoust got 3 hits, including a double and produced 2 runs.
Finally, the home run contest was won by Nathan Gagnon of the Guerriers, who earned the title of long ball hitter.
