Grand Slam tournament: Alexander Zverev confidently moves into round two of Wimbledon

Alexander Zverev won the first round of the Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon with the first match point. The German tennis star beat his opponent Roberto Carballes Baena from Spain comfortably with 6:2, 6:4 and 6:2. In the second round, Zverev will now face Marcos Giron from the USA or the Briton Henry Searle.

Zverev needed one hour and 53 minutes before he ended the match with the first match point. While the surrounding games on the outdoor courts of the prestigious third Grand Slam tournament of the season had to be interrupted several times, Zverev played his match on the second largest court under a closed roof.

Alongside him, two other German tennis players, Jan-Lennard Struff and Daniel Altmaier, are in the next round. Maximilian Marterer was eliminated and Dominik Koepfer did not even compete due to injury.

In the women’s race, Laura Siegemund also made it to the second round after rain interruptions.
