On Friday afternoon, in the setting of the Public Gardens of via Santi Baldini, the Guardia di Finanza of Ravenna organized an initiative for the young athletes of the Centro Sportivo Terapia Judo of Ravenna. During the event, organized in collaboration with the ASD Centro Sport Terapia Judo Ravenna, an association that has been operating in Emilia Romagna for over 40 years in the field of initiation to motor-sport education of the disabled, the young athletes had the opportunity to attend a demonstration by the Guardia di Finanza dog units.
The financiers, in particular, simulated various operational situations aimed at searching for fake narcotic material and took the opportunity to explain the long training path of the dog units, based on play and the dog-trainer relationship. On this occasion, in memory of the special day dedicated to them, the young athletes and their coaches were given sports equipment purchased by the military of the Provincial Command with funds from a voluntary subscription among the Ravenna yellow flames.
The initiative, which takes place in conjunction with the celebrations for the 250th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Corps, demonstrates the strong sensitivity of the financiers towards social and educational issues. In this sense, the organized event aims to highlight and support the commitment of those who daily face the difficulties typical of a disadvantaged condition and who, through the promotion and sharing of the values of sport, “put into play” their passion for the affirmation of principles that are essential for the growth of social heritage: healthy competition, fairness, mutual respect, resilience, solidarity and inclusion.
The reaction of the young protagonists of the initiative was extraordinary, for whom it was a day of great serenity and an opportunity to see, for the first time and up close, the canine units of the Guardia di Finanza at work to protect legality and public order and safety.
