Hot Sale grows 15% in sales; reaches 34,539 million pesos in the 2024 edition – El Sol de México

Total sales in the 2024 Hot Sale edition reached a total of 34,539 million pesos, 15.3 percent more than what was recorded in the 2023 campaign, reported the Mexican Online Sales Association (AMVO).

At a press conference, the association estimated that during this edition, 47 percent of Internet users in Mexico made purchases during the campaign, held from May 15 to 23. This percentage represents 12.5 million people.

For this edition, AMVO mentioned that there was a greater number of Internet users with knowledge about the Hot Sale, since this year nine out of 10 users said they were aware of the sales campaign.

The study, conducted in collaboration with market analysis firm Nielsen, indicated that Internet users took advantage of the campaign to buy fashion, beauty and personal care products, technology such as computers, cell phones and tablets, as well as televisions.

Retail, which is the sale of products, continues to lead purchases with a percentage of 88 percent of total sales. For its part, the Travel category increased its reach by 16 percent, surpassing 2023 levels.

Of the purchasing channels, the vast majority of consumers participating in Hot Sale shop both online and in physical stores.

By 2024, 90 percent of buyers will acquire their products and services by combining physical and digital channels.

Following this trend, 29 percent of the companies participating in this edition used omnichannel strategies.

As for the main reasons for shopping online, promotions and discounts remain. In addition, the average online discount for Hot Sale 2024 is 14 percent, which has remained stable for the past two years.

Bank cards, main form of payment

As for the payment methods used in this edition of Hot Sale, credit and debit cards continue to be the main online payment methods, while cash is the preferred method in physical stores.

Regarding the type of promotion that most consumers chose, discounts of 21 to 40 percent stood out as the most purchased.

Home delivery remains the preferred delivery method, while smart lockers are gaining in importance compared to last year.
