Independence Day Headlines: One Suspect Charged In Lake Merritt Shooting

The current heatwave in the Bay Area has now been blamed for one death. A homeless person who died in San Jose is believed to have perished due to the effects of the heat. [Bay Area News Group]One of the men believed responsible for taking part in the Juneteenth shootout at Lake Merritt has been charged. 23-year-old JaJuan Kelly, who was one of the suspects arrested the night of the shooting, has been charged with four counts of felony assault with a semiautomatic weapon, in connection with the shooting of four people; DA Pamela Price has not said how many other suspects are believed to be involved. The incident happened at 2315 Mission Street, at 19th, and the toddler’s current condition is not known.
