Instituto de Córdoba and Boca Juniors to Face Off in LNB Finals: A Clash of Football Giants

The 40th edition of the National Basketball League (LNB) has finalists and they are Instituto de Córdoba and Boca Juniorswho won their respective semi-finals this week and took another step towards their goal of becoming champions. For the third time in history, the competition will see two clubs whose main discipline is football and who are well-known for it face to face for the title. The previous matches were Xeneize vs. Gimnasia de La Plata in 2004 and San Lorenzo vs. La Gloria in 2019.

It took both teams five games to get rid of their rivals. The team from Buenos Aires beat the defending champion, Quimsa de Santiago del Estero, 3-2, in a tie that was decided at the home of the champion of America in northern Argentina. Before, in the quarterfinals, they defeated Ciclón 3-1. The team led by Lucas Victoriano closed their task 3-2 against Olímpico de La Banda but at home in the stadium Angel Sandrin. Previously, they left Regatas Corrientes behind 3-2.

The final will begin this Saturday in Córdoba and will be a best of seven games. All matches are broadcast live on television on TyC Sports and, consequently, through its digital platform TyC Sports Play. The sports channel can also be watched on Flow, DGO and Telecentro Play.

The Docta team will have home-field advantage because they were second in the regular season with a record of 27 wins and 11 losses, behind the Fusion. Boca, on the other hand, qualified fourth with 24-14. In the clashes between them in the first phase, Instituto achieved two victories: 94 to 88 as a visitor at the Bombonerita and 87 to 85 at home.

With the eliminations of Quimsa and Olímpico, there are 18 clubs that finished the season. The Corrientes team returned to the second division after seven years.

Both Instituto and Boca Juniors already know what it is like to be LNB champions. La Gloria achieved it once, while the xeneize, finalist last season, did so three times.
