INTERNATIONAL ROSETTA SKYRACE 2024 | Sportdimontagna.com

Registrations for the International Rosetta SkyRace will open on Monday 1 July, the beautiful race designed on the Orobic paths that connect the mountain pastures of the Bitto Valley with panoramic views of the Alto Lario and a passage to the summit of Pizzo dei Galli and Rosetta. For the occasion, the Sport Race Valtellina of President Massimo Zugnoni has several new features in store, ranging from the partnership with “Ande”, the new main technical sponsor of the event, to improvements on the route, passing through an important federal recognition.

Let’s start with the route. To make the race even more beautiful, airy and spectacular, some improvements have been added both at altitude and in the final dive towards the finish line in Rasura. If the legendary passages at Pizzo dei Galli and Cima Rosetta remain a must, from this year at the 13th km mark (after the first stretch of descent from the symbolic peak that gives its name to the race), a new pass will be introduced that will take the athletes towards Alpe Combana. On the descent, a stretch of the recently built Bitto cycle path will be used, before heading towards Bar Bianco and descending directly towards the finish line crossing some characteristic mountain pastures. That’s right, the last 2km towards the town of Mellarolo and the final climb towards the finish line have been eliminated, making the route more direct, fast and linear. Numbers in hand, the race ring will now have a development of 23.2km with a positive difference in altitude of 1850m.

But the news doesn’t end here. The Valgerola sky, scheduled for Sunday 01 September, will be a stage of the Skyrunner Italy Series; that is, the first 3 men and the first three women classified will have a bib for the final of the Skyrunner World Series, or the world cup of the specialty, scheduled for 16 November in Spain. A nice recognition that Fisky (Italian Skyrunning Federation) wanted to give to the Orobic organizing committee for the excellent work done so far.

For the rest, the format and organizational standards will be the same as always. The numerous prizes in kind will also remain unchanged with the Bitto, Latteria and Casera cheeses that have made this competition famous. And as always, it will be a challenge within a challenge thanks to the flying finish lines placed at the height of Alpe Tagliate and at the top of Pizzo dei Galli. In addition to the Memorial Bruno – Giuliana Martinalli and the Memorial Franco Garbellini, the prize for the downhill skiers who will use the best time on the last descent has also been confirmed.
