Zhang Zhijie, a 17-year-old Chinese badminton player who was participating in a competition in Indonesia, died unexpectedly. His sister said she would “get to the bottom of this matter”. Yesterday, Zhang Zhijie’s sister reposted the “World Badminton Federation” announcement on Weibo, with the message “get to the bottom of this matter. Regarding Zhang Zhijie’s sudden death, the Badminton World Federation posted a Weibo the day before yesterday, saying that it is taking all necessary measures to consult with the Badminton Asia Confederation and the Indonesian Badminton Federation to thoroughly review the matter. The Badminton World Federation will determine whether the medical procedures need to be modified after the review is completed.
On the evening of June 30, during the mixed team group match of the 2024 Asian Youth Badminton Championships held in Indonesia, 17-year-old Chinese badminton player Zhang Zhijie suddenly fainted and died after being sent to the hospital. According to CNN’s Indonesian program, Indonesian Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said in a meeting with members of parliament yesterday that if someone suffers a sudden heart attack like Zhang Zhijie, the patient has a chance of survival if effective treatment is given within 4.5 hours.
