Israel Announces Flag Bearers for Paris 2024 Olympics: Peter Paltchik and Andi Murez

He Olympic Committee Israel announced that judoka Peter Paltchik and swimmer Andi Murez will be Israel’s flag bearers at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games later this month.

Paltchik, born in Ukraine, competed for Israel at the 2020 Tokyo Games, where won a bronze as part of the mixed team judo competition.

American-born Murez competed for Israel in both Tokyo and the 2016 Rio Olympics. She is also a qualified physician who combines her medical studies with her Olympic training.

“The Israeli delegation is a mosaic of Israeli society and the selected flag bearers, exemplary athletes Peter Paltchik and Andi Murez represent the essence of Israeli society: people who have made their way through many challenges with endless dedication, Zionists, leaders and influencers in their environment.“, the Israeli Olympic Committee said in a statement.

The opening ceremony of the Olympics is scheduled for July 26 along the Seine River in Paris. So far, Israel has 87 athletes qualified.

In Tokyo 2020, The country had a delegation of 90 membersand won two golds (Artem Dolgopyat and Linor Ashram, both in gymnastics) and two bronzes (the aforementioned Paltchik and Avishag Semberg in Taekwondo).
